Former Congressman Chris Shays was first elected to the House of Representatives in the Connecticut General Assembly where he served from 1975 to 1987. He next served as a member of the United States House of Representatives and represented the 4th District of Connecticut from 1987 to 2009. During his 21 years in Congress, Chris Shays served on the Government Reform Committee, Financial Services Committee, Budget Committee and the Homeland Security Committee.
