Edward McMillan-Scott is a British politician who served as a Member of the European Parliament from 1984 to 2014. One of its longest-serving Vice-Presidents, he was elected to the role four times between 2004 and 2014. A lifelong pro-European, he represented Yorkshire and The Humber and led the Conservative MEPs from 1997 to 2001. He broke with his party in 2009 over David Cameron’s creation of a nationalist grouping, sitting thereafter as an independent and later a liberal until his departure from the Parliament in 2014.
