Halkano Boru is a seasoned researcher and consultant with 7 years of experience in governance, peacebuilding, and conflict resolution. He has provided support and expertise for the development and implementation of important projects focusing on governance, peacebuilding, and preventing violent extremism in Northern Kenya, Ethiopia, Uganda, South Sudan, and Somalia. He specializes in studying political violence, governance, fragility, violent extremism, and transnational organized crime to provide information to policymakers. He has collaborated with and advised international institutions, government agencies, and civil society. He recently worked as a consultant political affairs officer for the IGAD office of Special Envoy for Red Sea, Gulf of Aden, and Somalia. He holds Master of Arts in Global Affairs at the Keough School of Global Affairs, University of Notre Dame.
