Will Kaufman

In addition to writing the first political biography of Woody Guthrie – "Woody Guthrie, American Radical" (Illinois, 2015) – I have written a number of books on American culture: "Singing for Peace: Antiwar Songs in American History" (with Ronald D. Cohen, Routledge, 2015), "American Culture in the 1970s" (Edinburgh, 2009), "The Civil War in American Culture" (Edinburgh, 2006) and "The Comedian as Confidence Man" (Wayne State, 1997). I am a two-time winner of the Woody Guthrie Research Fellowship from the Broadcast Music Industry Foundation and was consultant to Johnny Depp and Douglas Brinkley for the publication of their co-edited edition of Guthrie's recently discovered novel, "House of Earth" (2013). I have two forthcoming books on Guthrie: "Woody Guthrie's Modern World Blues" (Illinois, 2016) and "Woody Guthrie: Down, Up or Anywhere" (Reaktion, 2016).
