Michael Stelzig is a retired U.S. Army colonel, foreign policy practitioner, and freelance writer with more than 28 years of military service, including over two decades overseas in Europe and the Asia-Pacific. A career Army Foreign Area Officer, he served in security cooperation and attaché roles across Thailand, Hawaii, Afghanistan, the Philippines, and Cambodia, culminating as U.S. Defense Attaché to Cambodia. He is a graduate of the U.S. and Thai Army Command and General Staff Colleges and holds Master’s degrees in strategy, focused on counterterrorism in Southeast Asia, and in communication and information studies.
